Scholarly and Research Interests

  • Teacher Preparation / PETE Programs: The role of instructional scaffolding in teaching Physical Education. PETE Program assessment of pedagogical content knowledge, subject matter knowledge, experiences, beliefs and attitudes of pre-service teachers. Evaluation of internationally innovative pre-service PETE programs.
  • Physical Education Teacher effectiveness. To study the relationships between PETE programs and school PE teachers to enhance collaborative research, which contributes to the translation of knowledge.
  • The effects of web based instruction on teacher preparedness. To investigate the use of web-based communication tools to enhance collaboration between teacher candidates and gain deeper understanding of concepts related to teaching physical education.
  • Physical Education and Technology. To develop innovative instructional programming that promotes active and healthy living with the use of technology in PE. To investigate the use of technology is PE and its influence on student learning. To integrate and examine the affects of technology in PE Teacher Education.
